These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Vult app ("Vult", "the app"), provided by Canyon Labs ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Vult you agree to these Terms.
1. Relationship to Apple's terms
Vult is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"), apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. These Terms add to the Standard EULA. Where they conflict, the Standard EULA controls, except where these Terms give you more rights.
Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for Vult or its content.
2. What Vult is
Vult is a private vault for your photos, videos, files and notes. Everything you put in Vult is encrypted and stored on your device. Vult has no account and no server, and we can't see, access or recover anything in your vault.
3. Your passcode and your data
- Your passcode can't be recovered. If you forget it, the only way back in is to delete Vult and install it again, which permanently deletes everything in the vault. We can't reset it for you.
- Backups are your responsibility. Settings → Back Up Vault creates a passphrase-encrypted file that you store yourself. If you lose your device and have no backup, your vault can't be restored. If you forget a backup's passphrase, that backup can't be opened.
- Deleting the app deletes the vault. Removing Vult from your device removes everything stored in it.
4. Saving content from websites (acceptable use)
Vult includes a private web browser that can save photos and videos shown on web pages into your vault. You may use this only for content that you:
- created yourself;
- own; or
- have permission from the rights holder to save.
You must follow the terms of every website and service you use through Vult. Many sites don't allow their content to be downloaded. You are responsible for what you save and for making sure you have the right to save it.
Vult can only save media that a page itself plays or displays in the browser. It doesn't get around copy protection (DRM), and saving is turned off on major platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Apple Music, Netflix, Spotify, TikTok and Instagram. That list may change without notice. Saving being available on a site doesn't mean that site allows it.
You may not use Vult to:
- infringe anyone's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- share, distribute or sell content you've saved without the rights holder's permission;
- save or store content that is illegal where you live, including any content that sexually exploits minors;
- get around technical measures that control access to content.
Before your first save from a web page, Vult asks you to confirm that you understand these rules.
5. Break-in reports
If you turn on Break-In Reports, Vult takes one front-camera photo and, if you allow it, records your device's location after a wrong passcode is entered. Reports stay on your device and appear only in Vult's Settings. Use this feature only on your own device, and in line with the laws where you live. Some places restrict photographing people without their knowledge.
6. Subscriptions
Vult Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the App Store.
- Prices, billing periods and any free trial are shown in the app before you subscribe.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in Vult (Settings → Manage Subscription) or in your Apple Account settings.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
If your subscription ends, you can still open and export everything in your vault. Adding new items is limited to the free tier.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Vult is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we don't guarantee that Vult will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that data will never be lost. To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any loss of data, including loss caused by a forgotten passcode or passphrase, a lost device, or a missing backup. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms. We'll change the "Updated" date above, and if a change is significant we'll tell you in the app.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise.
